About
"The Road Goes on Forever, and the Party Never Ends!"

Monticello Road formed in 2000 from five friends hailing from Charlottesville, VA.
What started as a fun hobby amongst roommates, turned into full time chaos when "The Road" began to pack out the local bars and sell out clubs in Charlottesville. Monticello Road recorded their first self titled album at Virginia Arts recording studio in Charlottesville. They copied their own demo CD's and diligently mailed them throughout bars & clubs on the east coast. The live experience of touring gravitated the band to new levels of creativity, song writing, and abilities and shot them straight into their next studio session at the infamous "Red Room" in Falls Church, Va. Craig Honeycutt and Steve Van Damm of the band "Everything" (ie - Hooch) recorded & produced what would be the final product, the much anticipated follow up album "This Scripted Show".

With the release of "This Scripted Show" in record stores in the East Coast College Circuit, touring became full time for Monticello Road. They opened for acts such as Nickel Creek, Weekend Excursion, Fighting Gravity, and Virginia Coalition. They continued their run on the East Coast circuit and dominated the college fraternity event rotation. In 2004 Monticello Road won several Battle-of-the-Band contests and earned Charlottesville's Favorite Musician / Group award (a long-standing award held by Charlottesville locals The Dave Matthews Band). In August of 2004, Monticello Road played side stage for Dave Matthews Band in Antioch, TN. 2,000 demo copies of singles from "This Scripted Show", as well as recent recordings from Crystalphonic Studios, were distributed at the show that night.

Monticello Road recorded about an album's worth of unreleased tracks at the state of the art Crystalphonic Studios in Charlottesville between touring. These recordings were at the height of The Road's success and drew attention from several labels, including Island Def Jam. With a change in management (to broaden the band's footprint), came several changes within the band that seemed to stall Monticello Road. For reasons unknown, bassist Jason Marshall left the band in early 2005 and moved back to his original hometown of Naples, FL. Marshall's recommended successor (and good friend of the band) Teswar Wood filled his role. Monticello Road continued to play shows intermittently for a month or two until, lead guitarist and vocalist, Vaden Cox left the band as well. Local guitarist Jamie Dean stepped in to fill Cox's lead guitar role.
The spirit of Monticello Road continued. Another album from old and new recordings, was dubbed and edited at Crystalphonic Studios. That final studio effort can be found on iTunes, as their second self titled debut.

Monticello Road is currently in a full hiatus. Vaden and several band members occasionally perform in the semi-annual "Vaden Cox & Friends" show around the holidays.  In the meantime, you can catch former bandmates sitting in on rare appearances with other local musicians in their respective areas.
